SBDC Response to COVID-19

The spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. We are actively monitoring the health alerts regarding COVID-19 and our highest priority is the wellbeing of our staff, clients and volunteers. We are following developments and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Our Illinois small businesses are being affected due to closures and reduction in foot traffic because people are social distancing. The short-term effects are already being felt and the long-term effects are still unknown. These are difficult and unprecedented times that have forced changes in how all of us do business, including us but know that we are still here to help! Please review the following changes to the delivery of our services:

Events

For the health and safety of our staff and clients, effective immediately, we have decided to suspend all in-person events through April 30, 2020. If available, trainings will be provided in webinar format.

Office + Client Meetings

We are checking our e-mails and responding to inquiries as quickly as possible. Advising  requests (both currently scheduled and new) will be conducted by videoconference or phone until further notice.

We will update this website as additional information and guidance is available. Please e-mail us at sb-center@wiu.edu for assistance.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center (IL SBDC) and the Illinois International Trade Center provide FREE, confidential advising and training to help entrepreneurs and businesses start, grow, prepare to export, and sustain their businesses.
